It’s all gone MaD of late!
So Mean and Dirty has seen some changes in personnel and we need to tell you about the new line-up. Graham Foot has stepped back from this hallowed institution, to concentrate upon his ventures into frame-building and his shop, Slam 69. We are grateful to Graham for his words of wisdom and support in getting Mean and Dirty off the ideas-page and onto the race circuit. If you’re worried you won’t see him again, rest assured Graham will continue to appear from time to time at our events, like a big shaggy man-beast.
In Graham’s place, come the dynamic duo, Kim and Vanessa, of Rogue Racer fame. Think WonderWoman and Captain America in no particular order! Kim and Vanessa have been involved in all our events in the last 3 years and without their skills with technology, all round organisation and drive, those events would have been more shambolic than they were! Together, we have a lot of ideas for off-road events in Gloucestershire. we are working tirelessly to explore new formats and venues, to keep you entertained and out of trouble with your loved ones/police/probation. One day, you might just need to dress as a Georgian dandy…or Daffy Duck…..we’ll let you know.
We continue to work in partnership with The National Trust at Ebworth, this feels like home. We know where all the plants and animals live, even their names. And they know ours. We are one big happy extended family of briophytes, pteridophytes, molluscs and mammals. The estate is where we have hand-built kilometres of singletrack, lined it with berms, built terraces and guided you around sensitive plants and environments. This is a unique place, with SSSI status. You and we are privileged to be able to ride your bikes here. If you do come to an event, be sure to take notice of the beechwoods, which are nationally rare and significant. Go on, hug a tree….just make sure you don’t hug one at 30 miles per hour.
Andy Gardner remains in situ and as hairy-faced as ever. His long-suffering wife, Ali, is getting more involved too. Ali can’t bear to watch his incompetent fumblings at the keyboard, so has taken pity on the dear boy. It’s a bit like childcare her role.
Mean and Dirty continue to be committed to bringing you good value, well organised mountain bike events, with a commitment to making our courses appeal to a whole range of skill and fitness. We and our staff want you to have a great time, whilst you choke your lungs down into your chest, we will be warm, friendly and welcoming. You won’t be lacking motivational speeches either…some of our MaD marshals have a unique brand of encouragement waiting for you. Just make sure you keep them entertained, not only with your on-bike prowess, but also with some witty ripostes. If you can’t think of anything to say, for pity’s sake, pull a wheelie.
That’s all for now folks, keep an eye on the website and facebook for updates and information. we promise not to keep it a secret.
The Mean and Dirty Team.
