The MaDORC 2014 is here.

The Event: The Mean and Dirty Off Road Challenge (MADORC) The cost of entry is £30 on the day. Part of your entry will go towards supporting the great work done by Headway Gloucestershire, a local charity that supports people who have suffered life-altering brain injury. A number of cyclists and sportspeople have passed through their doors and continue to receive Headway’s invaluable help.

Mean and Dirty are offering you an off-road challenge into the Cotswold Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, starting and finishing at Brockworth Rugby Club. You will have access to parking, changing facilities, showers, a hot meal and event t-shirt, and crucially, the club bar for refreshment, upon completion of your ride. There will be a refreshment stop in a village hall where you can top up your water and enjoy delicious homemade cake, to sustain you.

There will be two route options, 40K or the full 80K. The first refreshment stop is at 20K, this will be halfway for the guys taking the short option, those wishing to do the full MADORC can then head off on a 40k loop, before coming back to the same refreshment stop and then heading home.

The event will start at 9am and we will close the event at 6pm. Out on the route, there will be marshaling and radio cover, with first aid provided with 4-wheel drive capability. The route will be fully marked with direction arrows and technical sections indicated.

Be self-sufficient, we advise everyone taking part to carry a minimum of a pump, inner tube and puncture repair kit, a compact multi tool is always a good idea. We have devised a route that is off-road heavy, (75% off-road) with the emphasis on connecting some fantastic sections of challenging terrain, ideal for mountain biking. You will encounter a variety of trail surfaces, gradients, and obstacles, to test your riding skill and fitness. Where road sections are used, they tie together the fun parts. This is not a race. The importance is upon enjoying the ride and scenery. You will be expected to follow the country code and respect other trail users.

The route itself is a secret, we will have the it available to download just before the event. All we can say is it starts in Brockworth, into green street and gets off-road pretty quickly. The area takes in lots of great trails in an area between Gloucester – Cirencester – Leckhampton. There will be a real mix of terrain. Its designed for mountain bikes. That’s as much as we are going to say for now.

Please do not venture off the route, as we cross private land. Our hope is to be welcome into these communities in future. We will not be publishing the route before-hand, we want this to be a pleasant surprise. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 14th September 2014.
